Malik Imtiaz

MALIK IMTIAZ SARWAR

Malik Imtiaz is a leading human rights lawyer and activist and the current president of the National Human Rights Society (HAKAM). Through HAKAM and a coalition of NGOs called Article 11 (after the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion) of which HAKAM is a member, he has been actively involved in efforts to promote the rule of law and constitutionalism, particularly in the face of worrying trends of Islamization and race politics in government and wider society. He further actively promotes a civil rights discourse both in and outside court. His blog, Disquiet is at http://malikimtiaz.blogspot.com. Currently, he also contributes as a columnist for the Malay Mail every Tuesday for a column of the same name.

Dr. Farish A. Noor

Dr. FARISH A. NOOR

Dr. Farish Ahmad-Noor is a Senior Fellow at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technical University (NTU), Singapore where he is Director of Research for the Research Cluster on Transnational Religion in Southeast Asia. He is also guest affiliated Professor at both Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) and Sunan Kalijaga Islamic University, Jogjakarta. He is the author of 'Writings on the War on Terror' (2006), 'From Majapahit to Putrajaya' (2005) and 'Islam Embedded: The Historical Development of PAS' (2004). He is also the co-founder of the Other Malaysia research website (http://www.othermalaysia.org).

Azmi Sharom

Dr Azmi Sharom is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. His teaching and research interests are primarily environmental law and civil liberties. He has published in the Asian Yearbook of International Law, the Singapore Yearbook of International law and the International Journal on Minority and Group Rights, amongst others. He writes a fortnightly current affairs column in The Star entitled "Brave New World".

Michelle Gunaselan

Michelle Gunaselan is a writer. Her articles on Malaysian issues of a socio-political and human rights nature have appeared in various publication like Off the Edge, TELL, New Man and KLUE where she has a monthly column. During the 12th General Elections she founded a young voter education group called, votED: Exercise Your Rights. She has since written a chapter in a book to be published on the role of young voters, new media and the implications of these young voters had and will have in the elections to come.

Teh Ju-Lian

Teh Ju-Lian is a law graduate from the University of the West of England, Bristol with an interest in Malaysian current affairs and journalism. He is currently working as a writer and research assistant at Project Malaysia.

Robin Lee is an experienced consultant, with wide-ranging expertise in the effective application of information technology. During the last seven years, his focus has been on strategic aspects of internet marketing. Currently he is appointed to advisory roles for projects such as National Human Rights Society (HAKAM) web initiative and Project Malaysia in web directions.
